NNPC/Renaissance JV Sabbatical and Postgraduate Research Internship Programme 2027 for Nigerian University Students and Lecturers.

Applications are now open for the 2027 NNPC/Renaissance JV Sabbatical and Postgraduate Research Internship Programme. Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited (Renaissance), operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Renaissance, TotalEnergies and Agip Energy and Natural Resources Joint Venture, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for its 2027 Sabbatical and Postgraduate Research Internship Programme.

The programme provides opportunities for Nigerian postgraduate students and university lecturers to gain industry-related experience and contribute to research activities within the energy sector.

The NNPC/Renaissance JV Sabbatical and Postgraduate Research Internship Programme comprises two categories:

1. Postgraduate Research Internship for University Students
2. Sabbatical Attachment for University Lecturers

Both categories have a duration of 12 months (non-renewable).

1. Postgraduate Research Internship for University Students

The Postgraduate Research Internship provides opportunities for Nigerian postgraduate students pursuing Master’s and doctoral qualifications to gain industry-related work experience and conduct topical research within Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited.

Pipeline Availability

• PhD candidates in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Oil & Gas Engineering
• Applicants must have at least three years of pipeline engineering experience in design, construction or integrity assessment.

Exploration

• PhD candidates in Geology or Geophysics
• Applicants must have an AI-related exploration workflow.

2. Sabbatical Attachment for University Lecturers

The Sabbatical Attachment offers university lecturers, from the rank of Senior Lecturer and above, an opportunity to undertake research and other activities that contribute to Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited’s objectives.

The programme also provides opportunities to acquire industry-related experience and contribute to teaching and research activities at Renaissance JV Centres of Excellence (CoEs).

Interested applicants must submit the following documents:

1. An application letter stating the team or discipline of interest.
2. A curriculum vitae containing personal details, including name, email address and contact information for three referees.
3. For sabbatical applicants: A one-page summary explaining how the candidate intends to add value to Renaissance’s business during the 12-month sabbatical.
4. For research internship applicants: A research proposal outlining the study background, technical objectives, methodology, required data and expected outcomes.
